I got in touch with Dee when our first BC Jess was getting pretty old and sick. I came across Kolorko on Facebook, obviously one of those random things that pop up from time to time. There were these beautiful BC’s and a litter of puppies, Asti was their mum. What struck me and stayed with me was the obvious love and care of the breeder, Dee. I started following and tentatively reached out via messenger.

I wasn’t ready but I was really interested in these beautiful dogs. Dee was lovely, kind but never pressured us in anyway to ‘be ready’. About 12 months later Jess passed, at almost 16. We as a family were devastated. I reached out to Dee. She honoured our Jess with a post on her FB page. She didn’t have to, Jess was literally a farm dog, no special breeding or pedigree but she honoured her anyway. It was a beautiful tribute to our girl. Still we needed time. But Dee was patient with us. We thought were ready a year later & we were starting to prepare but in the end we couldn’t, our hearts weren’t ready. That was one of Stazzi litters. Dee accepted us in our moment of heart ache. No pressure, just a word to say ‘don’t do it if you’re not ready’.

Fast forward another 12 months. And this time it felt right, everyone felt ready. Dee kept us informed every step of the way. The day arrived and 8 puppies were born to Kari. Right from the start I saw the little girl with the orange collar ‘Daly’ and in my heart I knew she was the one. We did a meet and greet at 3 weeks and Daly didn’t leave my lap. The kids loved them all but I was anxious that she was destined for another family so I played it cool, ‘it’s ok which ever puppy we get’ but she was the one for me I just knew it. As time went by the testing was done and the puppies were allocated, Dee told us Daly was ours.

From that moment Daly became Sunny. A beautiful ray of sunshine to bring light and love back into our lives. We followed all the updates, and looked for Sunny in all of the puppy posts. Finally the day arrived and we got to bring her home. There were lots of little things about this litter along the way that confirmed the timing was right but the day we picked Sunny up marked 2 years exactly to when we lost Jess. It was the moment that our hearts were filled again and the loss was now replaced with celebration.

I can’t adequately express how much Sunny means to our family. All of the words, funny, beautiful, smart, goofy, playful, delightful, so clever, eager to please and all the rest. But most importantly she is family, a beautiful companion that is so eager to love and be loved. We couldn’t be more grateful to be chosen to have Sunny in our lives. Thanks Dee, we love being apart of the Kolorko family.
